What’s Better – The Stimulus or the TARP?

What’s Better – The Stimulus or the TARP?

Economists recall that it was not public works such as building roads and bridges but an expensive cleanup of the debt-ridden banking system and growth in trade with China and the United States that helped Japan emerge from its economic downturn in the 1980’s.

Recollecting those times, the economists say that besides the stimulus plan, the financial-rescue plan (TARP) should also be borne in mind. Together, these two things can turn the tide in our favor. Now, is the government listening to this well-meant advice? If they are, we could be out of this pit of recession soon, and if they aren’t- we are doomed!
